Description
1944 (May): Berlin, Germany. Reich's Chancellery in Berlin: Hermann Goering, Albert Speer, Wilhelm Keitel, and others at a ceremony in the Reich Chancellery in Berlin. German Marshall Hermann Goering enters, walks down aisle and greets young officer in front row. Stage set with massed flags, Swastika and flowers. Albert Speer presents award to a civilian woman, and one to an older civilian man. Men and women receive small crosses (Kriegsverdienstkreuz) that indicate their level of civilian (non-combat) service to the nation. One man receives the highest level honor. General von Runstedt presents awards to two civilian men. Hermann Goering presents an award to a civilian woman. He speaks to an older woman and pats her on the shoulder. Albert Speer escorts an older civilian man to the front of the assembly, as an officer, in the background reads a citation about the man. Audience is attentive. A young German officer places ribbon around the man's neck, with medal attached. Hermann Goering congratulates the awardee. Military band plays , as Goering and the honorees emerge from the ceremony. The medal recipient reviews troops with Goering in the courtyard of the Chancellery. The party walks slowly past an honor guard in the Court of Honor, of the Reich Chancellery. The principal honoree, an older man, walks with a cane, and gives Nazi salute.
