Description
1963, Lengede (Germany): GERMAN DISASTER: 43 TRAPPED IN FLOODED MINE: The collapse of a reservoir on the lip of an iron mine at Broistedt / Lengede, poured tons of water down the shaft to trap 129 men working below. 86 escapes and immediate rescue efforts were put into action to rescue three men who were know to be alive. It's a 'round the clock operation as workers drill through 250 feet of rock to the men. Air pressure in the mine is higher from the flood waters and it's a week-long effort to reach the climax of this drama of life and death. Keywors: Wunder von Lengede
