Description
Decision to be taken on the restitution of Klimts masterpiece The Austrian commission in charge of returning art pieces should announce on Friday its recommendations about Gustav Klimts Beethovenfries. The masterpiece, currently exposed in the Sécession palace, is claimed by the Lederer family that formerly owned it. First taken away from them by the Nazis, the piece of art is given back to the family after the war. But because of an export ban, the Lederers then decide to sell it to the state of Austria in 1973. The heirs of the family now claim for the restitution of the Beethovenfries. IMAGES.
