Vigil in Nairobi for 87 people killed in Burundi Kenyans and Burundians participated in a vigil in Nairobi on Sunday for the 87 people killed on Friday in Burundi. According to Colonel Gaspard Baratuza of the Burundian army, 79 "enemies" and eight soldiers were killed during and after coordinated assaults on three military installations. Several witnesses, however, accused the security forces of extrajudicial killings in the hours following the attacks, describing officers breaking down doors in search of young men and shooting them at close range.
