"Zombie walk" brings gore to Tel Aviv for Jewish holiday Purim People wearing zombie costumes and face paint took to the streets of Tel Aviv on Saturday to take part in a "Zombie walk", part of festivities for the Jewish holiday of Purim. The carnival-like Purim is celebrated with parades and costume parties to commemorate the deliverance of the Jewish people from a plot to exterminate them in the ancient Persian empire 2,500 years ago, as described in the Book of Esther.
