AIDS, hepatitis activists slam Gilead over pricing, drug access A number of AIDS and Hepatitis activists penned an open letter to pharmaceutical manufacturer Gilead on Wednesday, urging the group to reduce the cost of its Hepatitis drug Sofosbuvir to cater to patients in developing world who cannot afford it currently. Activists also asked Gilead to allow producers to enter the market with new generic versions of the Truvada drug, currently used to treat HIV/AIDS, and to stop efforts to extend its patents.
