Mosocw exhibition shows how artists captured upheavals of 1917 From portraits of elegant aristocrats to scenes of protesters waving red flags, a major new exhibition of Russian art from 1917 opens in Moscow evoking the social upheaval of the revolutionary year. The exhibition titled "A certain 1917," which runs to January 14 at the Tretyakov Gallery, displays some 150 paintings, posters and photographs from the era, from museums including the Tate Modern in London and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
