The problem of Chile’s Mapuche: a concern for the new president In the south of Chile, the Mapuche people, the main indigenous ethnicity in the country, fight to take back their ancestral lands, which they say have been spoiled over the years. Certain communities chose a peaceful route, whilst others opt for a more open combat with the forestry companies taking advantage of their territory.
