Description
French beaches are catering for people with disabilities The beach in Fort-Mahon, in the north of France, prides itself on being an accessible beach for people with disabilities. It has been recognised by the 'Handiplage' label, which awards communities with dedicated measures in place for the disabled. At this beach people can hire Tiralos, specially-designed beach chairs for people with reduced mobility, which can be used on land and in water. Around the beach there are flat pavements with no curbs, and plenty of disabled parking spaces nearby too. There are 75 beaches in France which have been recognised by the 'Handiplage' label.
