DRC: hundreds protest against MONUSCO in Beni over militia violence In the eastern Congolese city of Beni, police fire tear gas to suppress a large demonstration against the UN Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO). In a letter handed to the local MONUSCO chief, protesters called on the organisation to fully take on their responsibilities in protecting the population from the frequent militia attacks afflicting this part of the country.
