Shots of the 'supermax' prison where El Chapo might be held Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman could be held at the Administrative Maximum Facility (ADX) in Florence, Colorado, if he is sentenced to life in prison. The facility is also referred to as "supermax" or the "Alcatraz of the Rockies" and holds more than 400 inmates.
