Deserted Saint-Lazare station shows extent of nationwide strike in France The metro turnstyles at Gare Saint Lazare, one of the French capital's busiest train stations, are closed due to a nationwide bus and rail strike which has crippled the country. Only a few metro and RER (suburban train line) were in operation in the French capital, forcing many employees to borrow bikes, scooters and e-scooters and others, especially those living in the suburbs, to remain at home.
