Paris trial opens for "ghosts" of jihad Twenty four people have gone on trial in Paris - most in absentia - after leaving to fight in Iraq or Syria between 2014-2015. The defendants include 19 alleged jihadists, who are believed to have been killed in combat but are officially still wanted.
