Rare photos of French poet Paul Verlaine up for auction in Paris An album containing unpublished photos of French poet Paul Verlaine (1844-1896) and some of his relatives is on sale at the Hôtel Drouot auction house in Paris. Among the photos are two very rare portraits of a young Paul Verlaine, an unpublished photograph of his mother and cousin, Elisa Moncomble, his first love and above all patron. Verlaine is considered one of the greatest representatives of the 'fin de siècle' movement and became known for a feisty love affair with fellow poet Arthur Rimbaud. IMAGES
