Taiwan: Tourist industry takes hit from coronavirus Taiwan has proposed a US$2 billion package to help its economy weather the negative impact of the COVID-19 virus, including subsidies for hotels, transportation drivers as well as food vouchers for people to use at night markets. Visitor numbers have decreased significantly at all tourist spots. The National Palace Museum, one of Taiwan's biggest attractions, has seen a 70 percent drop in the number of daily visitors.
