Parents of a victim of French surgeon charged with paedophilia want public trial The parents of the first child to make a complaint against retired French surgeon Joel Le Scouarnec, 68, have called for the hearing to be held in public. The surgeon's nieces, who were also alleged victims, have requested that the trial take place in camera. Le Scouarnec is due to go on trial next month for the rape and sexual abuse of four children although 229 people have been questioned by investigators, of whom 197 have pressed charges.
