Description
France's military presence in the Sahel will be based on "two missions", announces president Emmanuel Macron: "the neutralisation and disorganisation of the high command" of Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State group (IS), as well as "support for the rise in power of the armies of the region".
The president is speaking alongside his counterpart from Niger, Mohammed Bazoum, after a summit with the G5 Sahel countries.
