Vincent Fichot, a 39-year-old French father, goes hunger strike near one of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic venues, demanding for an access to his two children who he claims have been abducted by his separated Japanese wife. Tough laws and patriarchal cultural norms in Japan that overwhelmingly see mothers granted sole custody after a divorce mean that fathers rarely see their children again.
