Ballots are being counted by election officials as Zambians anxiously await the results of the recent national elections. The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) assures citizens that results will be made available no later than 72 hours from the close of the last polling station. There is a strong police and military presence at the election results centre in Lusaka the day after Zambians flocked to vote in tightly contested polls pitting President Edgar Lungu against long-time rival Hakainde Hichilema.
