The Taliban celebrate the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in the country's second largest city, Kandahar, capital of the southern Afghan province and the hardline Islamist movement's spiritual birthplace. One Taliban member says of he hopes the Taliban will be able to 'go to their land and destroy their countries, ten times more than they did to our country.'
