Thailand has piloted a "sandbox" model to reopen its tourism industry to fully vaccinated tourists on its holiday island of Phuket since July and plans to reopen Bangkok and four other provinces in October. Under the sandbox scheme, instead of undergoing two weeks' hotel quarantine, tourists have to stay within a certain area for seven days after arrival and take covid tests. FILE IMAGES
