Description
An artist from Afghanistan whose murals are known throughout the region for their message of "peace and tolerance", says he has seen his works "painted over" amid the Taliban's takeover.
Before his interview with AFP, Farshad reproduced a famous mural of a Taliban fighter holding pencils, instead of guns.
He speaks of the trauma and frustration of seeing friends destroy their art before it fell into the hands of the Taliban. But in a world "with internet" and art just "one click away", Farshad believes Afghan art and culture will outlive the reign of the Taliban. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
