Description
Distraught residents watched the molten lava from the Cumbre Vieja volcano creep down the slopes of Spain's La Palma island.
One resident says he is living "on the edge all day" in fear that the volcano may destroy his or his family's home in the area.
The Cumbre Vieja volcano erupted on Sunday in the south of La Palma, one of seven islands that make up the Canary Islands archipelago off the coast of Morocco.
"I find myself in an internal struggle between the beauty of this situation and the unique opportunity to be able to live this first hand, and the sadness and pity I feel for all the people who lost their homes and whose lives have changed for good", says a visitor from Gran Canaria.
