Scientists working for volcanology institute INVOLCAN, have set up an urgent and makeshift research site five kilomoteres from the active vent of the recently erupted Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma. Scientists say they are conducting "blood tests" of material coming out of the volcano to better understand volcanic systems, which could help "predict future events as far in advance as possible".
