Sexually abused as a child by a priest, who was also her uncle, Marie-Claire Silvestre kept this secret buried all her life until 2008. She was one of 10,000 victims who testified before the Commission of Inquiry into Sexual Abuse within the Church. She also wrote of her experience in a book, which aims to "make people understand the inner journey of a victim," but says the church, which hasn't reached out to her at all, hasn't helped her heal.
