The purchase price of cocoa that farmers in the Ivory Coast will receive has been set at 825 CFA francs (1.25 euros) per kilo, at the opening of the 2021-2022 cocoa season, a drop of 17.5%. During the previous season (2020-2021), which coincided with the 2020 presidential elections in the country, the price was set at CFAF 1,000 (€1.52) per kilo, "an electoral price", denounced by the opposition.
