Description
"The death penalty does not defend a society of free men and women, it dishonours it," insists Robert Badinter, a former Minister of Justice in France who is known for abolishing the death penalty in France, in 1981. His comments come during a ceremony at the Panthéon, attended by president Emmanuel Macron, on the 40th anniversary of the abolishing of the guillotine. The last guillotine execution in France took place in 1977.
