Description
A three-party centre-right coalition called Together (Spolu) wins the Czech general election. The right-wing Civic Democrats, the centre-right TOP 09, and the centrist Christian Democrats have won almost 28 percent of the vote, according to near-final results. They beat the centrist populist ANO movement of billionaire Prime Minister Andrej Babis, which gained just over 27 percent. Together is likely to team up with another alliance, comprising the anti-establishment Pirate Party and the centrist Mayors and Independents (STAN). Together and the other grouping will have 109 seats in the 200-seat parliament, according to Czech TV data. Together celebrated the victory in a hotel in Prague's historic centre. The vote also ousted the Communist Party, which ruled in former Czechoslovakia in 1948-1989, from parliament for the first time since World War II. IMAGES
