South African farmer Danie Bester has made a radical decision to overhaul the way he farms in Balfour, Mpumalanga -- taking up techniques that are both better for his soil and for the climate, known as regenerative agriculture. With the country’s climate warming twice as fast as the rest of the world, according to experts, conserving moisture is crucial. Farmers and scientists alike have realised that conventional, chemical farming is not only bad for the environment, but also less resistant to climate change, and could lead to food insecurity.
