Long queues of vehicles stretch from Abuja petrol stations down busy streets as the threat of a union strike causes panic buying in the Nigerian capital. The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has issued a 14-day nationwide strike notice, accusing various oil companies of unfair labour practices, and demanding that the labour ministry resolve the issue.
