Aguila Saleh Issa, Libya's parliament speaker who was based in the eastern city of Tobruk and opposes the UN-backed administration, was appointed after being elected in the 2014 polls. Saleh, who is a former judge and has the support of his tribe, Al-Obeidat, one of the most powerful in eastern Libya, announced that he will run in the December 24 presidential elections.
