"I have not come here to embody a weak state" says France's minister for overseas French territories Sébastien Lecornu, who is the protest-hit island of Guadeloupe in the Caribbean. The often violent protests were started by hardline opponents of compulsory vaccination for health workers and firefighters on the island -- a measure already implemented in mainland France.
