Description
Dozens of employees of Starbucks from three shops in Buffalo, New York, near Niagara Falls, have filed a petition to unionize under the name 'Starbucks Workers United.' "I am confident that we will have the first unionized Starbucks in the US," says barista Casey Moore, who hopes her cafe's unionization effort will create a ripple effect across the company. The coffee chain has previously filed petitions with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), seeking to delay or change the planned vote. But requests were unsuccessful. Employees, whose ballots were sent out on November 10, now have until December 8 to respond. The count will take place the following day. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
