Description
The nativity scene installed in St. Peter’s Square for Christmas 2021 comes from Peru. Realised by the Chopcca community in the Huancavelica province, the crib portrays locals characters and traditions. The Three Kings for example have saddlebags or sacks containing foods characteristic of Huancavelica, such as potatoes, quinoa, kiwicha and cañihua, and are accompanied by llamas carrying a Peruvian flag on their backs.
