Deprived of a festival due to the pandemic, balloon enthusiasts are gathering in Mondovi, the ballooning capital of northern Italy, to get their balloons off the ground in the Piedmont town. Mondovi-based engineer Paolo Bonanno still designs the burners that make it possible to fly to very high altitudes, several hundred or even thousands of metres high, in his workshop.
