Description
Eskinder Nega, an Ethiopian opposition leader who was pardoned and released on January 7 in a surprise political amnesty after spending more than a decade collectively behind bars, warns that peace will continue to elude his conflict-riven country if questions over the fairness of last year's election are not freshly scrutinised. Eskinder says he would "gladly" participate in such a "national dialogue" but is sceptical the process would bear any fruit if steered by the Prosperity Party of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
