"I really want to go back to school," says nine-year-old Mexican Elena Delgado who has been taking online classes for close to two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. She hasn't been able to play with her friends during recess and feels she is falling behind in school, which she says "affects her a lot." As the world marks International Day of Education amid the pandemic, Elena is one of millions of children around the globe trying not to fall irreversibly behind in their learning.
