Since its launch last year, the word game phenomenon Wordle has rapidly become a daily challenge beloved by millions, and its popularity has spawned linguistic spin-offs around the world. In Auckland and Hong Kong, developers Wayne McDougall and Lau Chaak-ming have recently created versions of the game in Maori and Cantonese.
