Description
Two Congolese rappers, sentenced to ten and two years' imprisonment for insulting the head of state and the military, appear on appeal before the military court in Goma. In December, Delphin Katembo, alias Idengo, 25, and his colleague Muyisa Nzanzu Makasi, 29, both from North Kivu, a province in eastern DRC plagued by armed groups, were sentenced for lyrics in songs deemed dangerous and offensive to the honour of the army and President Félix Tshisekedi.
The lawyers of the artists are asking for their release. The court will decide on 11 March.
