Before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Meest-America was a shipping company that specialized in sending packages to Ukraine and Eastern Europe. But "when the war started, we lost most of our business," chief operating officer Natalia Brandafi says. Now, the New Jersey-based company -- 80% of whose staff is Ukrainian -- has redirected its operations to send humanitarian aid back home. American organizations and the Ukrainian community have donated packages of medical supplies, some with notes of support from children, and volunteers have joined the effort.
