Over 400 people gathered near the Taksim square in Istanbul on Tuesday as part of a nationwide protest over the trial of activist Osman Kavala. The trial, which took place on Monday, ended in life imprisonment for Kavala and the arrest of seven defendants of the Gezi protests trial. Surrounded by strict police measures, the crowd saluted Kavala and all seven people defendants, who were jailed on Monday over their support for the Gezi protests. IMAGES
