Description
Ukrainian army chaplain Oleg Tkachenko leads a prayer before lunch at a charity centre managed by the pentecostal church 'Awakening' in Pokrovsk. "I love God. I love my motherland. And the people who live near me. Regardless of their values. Pro-Russian or not. We help everyone" he says after having just returned from the frontline village of Vugledar from which he evacuated families with children and vulnerable civilians. "God gave us one quality: humanity. Only men have it. Not everyone has it, if we look at the Russians' behaviour. But, personally, I want to be human" he continues. Oleksandr Martinovych, who just arrived from Vugledar, recalls the tragedy he left behind: "Can you imagine? Picking up parts of your neighbour’s body, putting them in a bag and burying him. I am shocked. But I had to do it. There was no-one else to do it", the day before his neighbor Konstantin was killed during a shelling. His widow, Olena, who's been evacuated at the same time struggles to tell the truth to her son Kyril, and she cries: "He was crying and crying. Asking where is his Daddy? And still… I should tell him the truth. But I just can't. I don't have the strength." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
