Authorities of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD) of Paraguay and the Brazilian Federal Police destroy marijuana plantations and drug camps in the department of Amambay, bordering Brazilian territory, as part of an operation to eradicate illegal plantations. Paraguay police and SENAD forces also implement checkpoints and controls in the town of Pedro Juan Caballero, where violence has increased in recent weeks, culminating in the killing of the mayor by hitmen.
