Description
Former President of Burkina Faso Roch Marc Christian Kabore, at his home in Ouagadougou, says a "legal question" prevented him from participating in the ex-leaders summit organized by strongman Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba. Kabore's supporters gathered outside his house to protest the meeting to which Blaise Compaore had also been invited following his controversial return from exile in Ivory Coast. Compaore was convicted for the role he played in the assassination of his predecessor Thomas Sankara during a coup that brought him to power in 1987, and was not apprehended by authorities upon landing in the country, despite there being an active warrant for his arrest.
