Description
The Red Cross evacuate six elderly and people with chronic diseases from Kramatorsk to the railway station in Pokrovsk, eastern Ukraine.
From the Pokrovsk station, the evacuation train will go to Dnipro, where they will pick up ten people and then go to Lviv, according to Lou Cormack, Deputy Head of the Médecins Sans Frontières mission.
Patients will be placed in hospitals in Lviv, Western Ukraine, where they can continue treatment. Such evacuations on trains with the possibility of medical support take place six times a month. Since March, Médecins Sans Frontières mission and Red Cross have taken out about 1,000 people with limited mobility.
For now, Russian forces are gradually moving down towards Kramatorsk, the capital of Ukrainian-controlled Donbas and a key target for Moscow, while also moving up towards Pokrovsk, on the region's western flank.
In the past two weeks, they have gained a foothold in several small towns where urban combat is raging, such as Rubizhne, which had 57,000 residents before the war. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
