Description
Sporadic demonstrations against the junta, which came to power in September 2021, took place in Conakry, paralysing the Guinean capital. This despite a ban by the authorities and a strong police presence. This demonstration, initiated by the National Front for the Defence of the Constitution (FNDC), a large coalition of parties, trade unions and civil society organisations, aimed in particular at denouncing the unilateral management of the transition by the junta. The former ruling party, the Rassemblement du Peuple de Guinée (RPG), and another important coalition of parties, movements and associations, the Alliance Nationale pour l'Alternance et la Démocratie (Anad), had also called for people to join the protest movement.
