"We are facing an authoritarian regime, we have a mask of democracy, but it is very fragile," says Ombudsman Jordan Rodas, a thorn in the side of the last two Guatemalan governments. Rodas believes that Guatemala is going through one of its worst times because of corruption and that the government 'does nothing' to prevent people from leaving the country in search of better conditions. "We are hitting rock bottom, but they are pulling the rope a lot, they think the population can resist, but at some point the rope might burst," warns the Ombudsman, "Guatemala is like a pressure cooker."
