As temperatures rise in the US state of Maryland, a nonprofit is stepping up to help those suffering from extreme heat. Known for distributing meals to those who are seniors and/or homebound, Meals on Wheels is now also delivering fans. "Our clients have expressed a real need," explains the executive director of Meals on Wheels, Ruth Masterson. The nonprofit has delivered fans to over 40 of its clients this summer. Stephen Murphy, who suffers from Lyme disease, and his partner, Shari Daniels, who is fighting early-onset Alzheimer's, are one of the 'Fan Club' program's beneficiaries. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
