Description
Former Malaysian first lady Rosmah Mansor left court Thursday evening after she was convicted of corruption and was sentenced to ten years in jail along with a $216 million fine.
Her conviction came just nine days after her husband Najib Razak, Malaysia's former premier, began serving a 12-year jail term for offences linked to the multibillion-dollar 1MDB financial scandal.
Even having been sentenced, Rosmah will not go straight to jail, pending what could be a lengthy appeals process.
She remains on bail and still faces 17 other charges involving tax evasion and money laundering. IMAGES of Rosmah Mansor AND SOUNDBITES by Rosmah's lawyer and prosecutors
