UK Conservative Party leadership contender Liz Truss has plenty of critics in her old neighbourhood of Roundhay in Leeds, northern England, where she spent much of her childhood. Much of the animosity in the middle class area may stem from her criticism of Roundhay School. At her leadership launch event she said, 'Many of the children I was at school with were let down by low expectations, poor educational standards and a lack of opportunity,' though she herself managed to win a place at Oxford University where she read philosophy, politics and economics (PPE).
